International Artiglio Award
In memory of the legendary achievements of the salvage Ships Artiglio I and II and of their divers, the Artiglio International Award intends to:
1. Promote and subsidize studies, research and activities concerning the underwater world;
2. To acknowledge and honor the merits of persons, corporations and organizations for important and
original underwater exploits, both at a national and international level.
Foundation
The Artiglio Europe Foundation was created by initiative of the Rotary Club di Viareggio Versilia (District 2070). It took the name ARTIGLIO from the ships of the same name of the SO.RI.MA. (Italian acronym for "Society for Maritime Recovery") of Genoa, which, with divers form Viareggio on board, earned universal acclaim for their recovery achievements in the Mediterranean and Atlantic sea in the period 1920-1940.
