The Artiglio Europe Foundation decided to set up a particular award of recognition entitled "Una Vita per la Subacquea" (A Life Dedicated to Diving). This will be assigned, for the first time during this 3rd edition of the International Artiglio Award, to two outstanding personages honoring Italy: Raimondo Bucher and Luigi Ferraro

The following are the motivations for the award to Commander Raimondo Bucher

"From the '30's and during about 60 years, Raimondo Bucher made a great personal contribution, essential to the development of diving, in the following fields:

design and planning according to modern day bionic principles of diving gear,   such as the famous 'Bucher flippers'
. study and research regarding the design, planning and realization of equipment   and instruments for underwater exploration
. innovation and development of underwater photo-cinematography

Through these numerous and extraordinary activities, Raimondo Bucher has distinguished himself not only for contributing to the progress of diving, but also for opening new frontiers for mankind in the marine depths."
